Insurance & Out-of-Network
Relational Family Therapy is a private-pay practice, and we do not accept insurance directly. This allows us to protect your absolute privacy, provide highly specialized care tailored to your family’s needs, and ensure that treatment choices are guided entirely by you and your clinician—not by insurance restrictions or required mental health diagnoses.
Using Your Out-of-Network Benefits
Many health insurance plans offer out-of-network (OON) mental health benefits. If your plan covers out-of-network outpatient therapy, you may be eligible for partial or full reimbursement.
✓ How it works: You pay for your sessions at the time of service, and at the end of each month, we can provide you with a specialized receipt called a Superbill.
✓ What you do: You submit the Superbill directly to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.
Questions to Ask Your Provider
To determine your coverage, we highly recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card and asking:
✓ “Do I have out-of-network behavioral health benefits for outpatient office visits?”
✓ “What is my out-of-network deductible, and has it been met?”
✓ “What percentage of the session fee is covered after my deductible is met?”
Practice Policies
Cancellation Policy
Your session time is reserved exclusively for you and your family. If you need to cancel or reschedule, a 24-hour advance notice is required. Appointments cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be subject to the full session fee.
Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost before you begin services. You will receive a comprehensive, clear estimate outlining your projected care fees prior to your first intake session.
